June 19, 1760 to June 19, 2010
The town of Pownalborough - today's Wiscasset, Alna, Dresden and Swan Island - was incorporated on February 13, 1760. In June of that year, Lincoln and Cumberland counties were established, becoming the second and third counties after York to be formed within the District or Province of Maine. During the summer of 2010, ceremonies and festivals commemorating the historic 250th anniversary took place throughout Lincoln County.
